March 12, 2023 – Rock Resurrection Tour, Tulsa Theater Tulsa Oklahoma
The Rock Resurrection Tour featuring Saint Asonia, Skillet and Theory of a Deadman came to the Tulsa Theater in Tulsa Oklahoma Sunday night. The venue was packed and ready for a night of Rock and Roll music.
The first band on was Saint Asonia who just released their new full length album Introvert/Extrovert. Fronted by former Three Days Grace singer Adam Gontier with Cale Gontier on bass guitar, Cody Watkins on drums and Adelitas Way and Art of Dying guitarist Tavis Stanley filling in for Mike Mushok who due to “extenuating circumstances” couldn’t make this tour. They put on a great set of original material as well as a few Three Days Grace songs. Definitely go check them out.

Next up was the Christian rock band Skillet one of the best-selling rock bands of the 21st century and a two-time Grammy Award-nominated, Pandora Billionaires Club members, and multi-platinum certified. They are out supporting their latest project Dominion. Led by bassist and singer John Cooper his wife and guitarist Korey Cooper, Jen Ledger on drums and lead guitarist Seth Morrison. As soon as the band begins to play “Feel Invincible,” from the 2016 album ‘Unleashed’, the crowd is taken over by the incredible beat. Korey and Seth are running around the stage jumping and waving their guitars in the air. As “Rise” begins, Korey starts the opening keyboard sequence, with John and Jen singing along. The rest of the same was met with equal energy. During the show Adam Gontier returned to the stage to perform ‘ Finish Line’ with them. They ended their set with the song ‘The Resistance’ a song which was clearly a crowd favorite.

After a short break and the stage was reset Theory of a Deadman was next. They played Neal Diamond’s ‘Sweet Caroline’ as intro music and being from Boston it made me think of Fenway Park as that song is played there during Red Sox Games. All that was an after thought though as the band took the stage and ripped into the song ‘Dinosaur’ the title track off their upcoming album to be released March 17th which can be pre-ordered here http://theory.lnk.to/dinosaur. After that was ‘Bitch Came Back’ which the crowd sang along with which was followed by a set filled with amazing rock and roll music. The audience was definitely happy with the mix of classic TOAD songs mixed with some new songs like ‘Ambulance’, ‘Two of Us (Stuck)’ and more. They even did a couple of covers including Chris Isaak’s ‘Wicked Game’ and a little bit of Garth Brooks ‘Friends in Low Places’. The night ended with TOAD doing a little jam which included a little bit of Gun’s and Roses ‘ Paradise City’ and Pantera’s ‘Walk’ which went into a rocking version of their hit ‘Bad Girlfriend’. It was the perfect way to end end the show.
