Nothing More at The Oakdale Theater Wallingford CT

It was a beautiful night in Wallingford Ct. When I arrived and there was already a line of people waiting to get into the show. It was supposed to be a co-headlining show featuring Nothing More and Asking Alexandria but lead singer  Danny Worsnop of Asking Alexandria came down with a terrible case of laryngitis and had to cancel to regain his health.

The show started with the band Eva Under Fire out of Detroit led by singer Eva Marie. They came out with their hard hitting Detroit style rock and put on a great show.  Their set lasted 30-40 minutes and it featured their songs ‘Comatose’, ‘Blow’ and ‘I Will Fight’. They definitely won the crowd over with their explosive cover of Journey’s ‘Separate Ways’.

Next up was the California metalcore band Atreyu. Their set featured Brandon Saller on vocals, Dan Jacobs lead guitar, Marc McKnight on bass, Travis Miguel rhythm guitar and Kyle Rosa on drums. The crowd was having fun and singing along to most of the song they played which included ‘Baptize’, ‘Ex’s and Oh’s, ‘Warrior’ and ‘Blow’. They definitely got everyone warmed up for Nothing More and were having a great time doing it.

Three time grammy nominated Nothing More was up next and they came to play. From the second they came out and blasted into ‘Turn It Up Like(Stand In The Fire)’ it was on and their energy never stopped. Singer Jonny Hawkins let the crowd know how happy he was top be back playing music and the crowd responded with a huge roar of approval. He climbed up on top of ‘The Scorpion Tail’, a 14 foot high musical instrument built out of scrap metals including salvaged car and motorcycle parts. It was a sight to see and he was clearly having fun while on top of it. The band with guitarist Mark Vollelunga, drummer Ben Anderson and bassist Daniel Oliver were also having a blast. They tore through their blistering brand of heavy metal which included their songs ‘Let Em Burn’, ‘Tunnels’ and ‘Jenny’. The crowd was also having a blast which was confirmed by the crowd surfers coming over the rail. At one point Vollelunga jumped down into the pit and played for the fans up close and personal and they loved it. Their set sounded great and any rust they may have had from not doing shows for a couple of years was gone. You could feel the electric vibes pouring out of them as they played. Overall it was a great show and lots of fun was definitely had by everyone in attendance.
