Metal Tour Of The Year Featuring Megadeth, Lamb Of God, Trivium and In Flames
Friday May 13, 2022 – Mohegan Sun Uncasville CT:
Friday the 13th brought The Metal Tour of the Year to Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville Ct. It was warm outside and even warmer inside as the stage was set for a night of blistering heavy metal featuring Megadeth one of the most well know heavy metal bands in history.
The Swedish heavy metal band In Flames started the night with their song ‘Cloud Connected’ and didn’t let up at all during their set. Playing songs from their first album ‘Lunar Strain’ up to songs off their most recent release ‘I,The Mask’ and ending the set with their song ‘Take This Life’. It was an excellent way too start the night.

Up next was Trivium out of Orlando Florida. They are out playing songs from their latest release ‘ In The Court Of The Dragon’. They have a devout following which was evident from the crowds reaction to them. Singer Matt Heafy asked the crowd to create some pits and they happily obliged. Their set ended with their song ‘ In Waves’ and the audience exploded.

Lamb of God came on next and from the minute singer Randy Blythe, lead guitarist Matt Morton, drummer Art Cruz, guitarist Willie Adler and bassist John Campbell launched into ‘Memento Mori’ it was on. These guys came to play and didn’t mess around. It was some of the finest heavy metal I have seen and heard. Their set included the songs ‘Ruin’, ‘Resurrection Man’ and one of my favorites of the night ‘Walk With Me In Hell’ which had tons of pyro on stage and featured Blythe’s signature jump. They ended their set with the song ‘Redneck’. It was my first time seeing them and definitely not going to be my last. They tore it up!

Megadeth was founded almost 40 years ago by singer/guitar player Dave Mustaine and was up next. They are considered to be one of the ‘Big Four’ thrash metal bands along with Slayer, Anthrax and Metallica and it was obvious why they are in that category. They started out their set with ‘Hangar 18’ and proceeded to blow the roof off the Arena as they played through their set with the Megadeth brand of heavy metal. There was no shortage of head banging at all as they blasted out songs like ‘Peace Sells’, ‘The Conjuring’, ‘Symphony of Destruction’ and more. The band made up of Mustaine on vocals and guitar, Kiko Loureiro on guitar, Dirk Verbeuren on drums and bassist James LoMenzo were tight full of energy and completely spot on all night. It was awesome watching Mustaine and Loureiro trade solos through out the night as they are both incredible guitarists. They ended their set with ‘Holy Wars…The Punishment Due’ and I don’t think the crowd could have been happier. The level of talent and musicianship displayed through out their set was incredible. This is one show you do no want to miss and it is definitely named correctly ‘Metal Tour Of The Year’.
