Dokken and Last in Line kicked off the MGM’s Summer Concert series Saturday night in heavy metal fashion. The current line up of Dokken is Don Dokken, Jon Levin on guitars and local guys (CT) Chris McCarvill on bass and BJ Zampa filling in on drums for Mick Brown who is taking a small break from touring. They played for almost 90 minutes and their set was filled with all the Dokken songs we know and love and the crowd didn’t mind at all. Into the Fire, Breaking the Chains, Alone Again and In my Dreams were just a few. You can see the full setlist here. They are out on tour I suggest you go see them if you can. On a side note I bumped into Don a few hours before the show on the street and chatted with him for a couple of minutes, he was talking about having gray hairs and pointed out that I “also had gray hairs” thanks Don!
Last in Line is made up of original DIO members guitarist Vivian Campbell and drummer Vinnie Appice along with vocalist Andrew Freeman and bassist Phil Soussan. They brought it hard and heavy with classic Dio songs and some of their own originals.
